Inlet Keeper has harnessed the power of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for
use by everyone. GIS is computer mapping: interactive map layers with databases.
On the Cook Inlet GIS Atlas, easy to use software is combined with 125 map layers about Cook Inlet resources and human
uses. Layers such as land ownership, pollution sources, oil and gas development, a
topographic map and biological information such as wetlands, seabird colonies and
anadromous fish streams can be interlayered to produced user-defined maps. Updates
to the internet and data downloads are coming soon. All data are in ArcView
shapefile format and can be transeferred from the disc to your ArcView projects.
The atlas also includes a searchable Annotated Bibliography and Watershed Directory (both available for download soon). The CD comes with its own software and is ready to run on Windows based PCs (sorry the software won't work on Macs- though the data can be used in Mac ArcView projects).
