Upper Ninilchik River

The river flows through a broad wetland valley filled with grassy tussocks.  In the spring, water spreads out across the valley and the channel is almost indistinguishable from the floodplain.  Numerous birds visit the valley, including mallards and yellowlegs.  Volunteers have observed bears, fish and river otters.
