Wetlands Monitoring

Wetland volunteers will be trained to monitor water table depths, vegetation, wildlife, and water chemistry at wetland sites once a month from May to October. To be trained as a wetland monitor you must attend either one of these training dates.  For more information email Ingrid Harrald or call 907-235-4068 ext 37.

Water Quality Monitoring

The Spring  2006 training for water quality monitoring will be Wed April 26th, 2005 at 6-8 pm;  Thur April 27th  6-8 pm; and Saturday April 29th   12-3pm. To be trained as a volunteer monitor, you must attend all 3. The time Saturday is flexible based on input from the class. The training will be held at the Keeper building (Kachemak Bay Conservation Center) in the lab. We will be outdoors part of the time days 2 and 3, so dress accordingly.

Phases I-III need to be completed before volunteers can monitor sites.  Phases I-II are classroom and hands-on trainings.  Phase III is performed at the site the volunteer will monitor, and is arranged with individual volunteers.  Phase IV is an annual re-certification, and phase V is training to become a trainer.  The Keeper Office is located at 3734 Ben Walters Lane (Kachemak Bay Conservation Center).  For more information email  Ingrid Harrald  or call 907-235-4068 ext 37.

Phase III is by arrangement with the trainer, after the lab classes are completed.

Please bring appropriate clothing for being out in the field.  This includes raingear, gloves, rubber boots, hat and layers of warm clothing.
