Watershed consciousness is on the rise among a broad range of Alaskans, and Cook Inlet groups are coming together in a unified Watershed Network to protect the quality of life in their communities.  Here are some of the Cook Inlet, Alaska groups working to protect the quality of life in their communities.

To strengthen this network, Cook Inlet Keeper provides community-lead initiatives with the information, resources and services they need to improve the quality of life in their communities.  The resources Keeper provides includes:

• GIS mapping technologies, including the Cook Inlet GIS Atlas on CD ROM, and ArcView technical support;
• Watershed Directory, including contact information for over 400 agencies, businesses, native tribes and citizen groups;
• Annotated Bibliography of over 400 publications on Cook Inlet history, environment and more;
• Water Quality Monitoring expertise including an EPA approved Quality Assurance Project Plan and Volunteer Training Manual, volunteer monitoring training workshops and data management and analysis;
• Legal and advocacy support;
• Nonprofit management consulting;
• Network Connection among Cook Inlet Groups through Internet, email and newsletters;
• Information workshops about conservation science, environmental law and policy and more;
• Links to other capacity building organizations and resources.
