Stariski Creek Instream Flow Reservation Application

Stariski Creek Reservation of Water Application submitted by Alaska Department of Fish and Game and Cook Inletkeeper in July 2011.

In cooperation with Statewide Aquatic Resources Coordination Unit (SARCU) staff of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G), Cook Inletkeeper installed a stream gauge and staff plate and measured flow on Stariski Creek to provide the necessary data to protect instream flows for salmon habitat. Stariski Creek on the lower Kenai Peninsula was nominated in 2006 by Region 2 Sport Fish Division as a high priority stream warranting a reservation of water. Stariski Creek supports small to moderate runs of Chinook, coho, and steelhead. The outcome of this collaboration is a five-year hydrologic data set and an instream flow reservation for the protection of fish through the Alaska Department of Natural Resources. ADF&G and Cook Inletkeeper submitted a Reservation of Water Application in July 2011.
