Description
Abstract:
This file is a subset of the "tractalbers.shp" shapefile. That file
comes from a *.dxf (AutoCAD) file generated by the Alaska Division of Oil and Gas
and attributed (tract numbers of the 1998-2008 Cook Inlet areawide sale)
by Cook Inlet Keeper, as described in that file's metadata. The tract
numbers used were listed in a letter from P. Michael Payne of the US National
Marine Fisheries Service to Patty Bielawski of Alaska's Department
of Natural Resources on 19 November, 1999. The tracts were selected
and converted to a separate shapefile, then attributed according to the
categories outlined in the correspondence.
Purpose:
The purpose of this file is to display graphically the NMFS recommendations for and locations of
the Cook Inlet Areawide oil and gas lease sale tracts conflicting with Beluga whale habitat.
