At Cook Inletkeeper, we’re always looking for new and meaningful ways for our donors to create lasting impact by protecting the Cook Inlet watershed and the life it sustains. A surprisingly powerful, yet often overlooked, way to do that is through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF). And right now, there’s a national movement that helps grants from your DAF go even farther, called Half My DAF.
What is a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)?
A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account held at a financial institution. A DAF is a simple, flexible, and tax-efficient way to support the causes that matter to you. You contribute funds, get an immediate tax deduction, and recommend grants to nonprofits over time.
While DAFs are one of the fastest-growing ways to give in the U.S., over $326 billion is currently held in DAF accounts waiting to be deployed to make an impact. This is money that could transform lives if it were put to work. Today. That’s where #HalfMyDAF comes in.
What is #HalfMyDAF?
The #HalfMyDAF campaign invites DAF holders to donate at least half of their fund each year, turning charitable intent into meaningful action. #HalfMyDAF will make dollar-for-dollar matches up to $5,000 on October 8, 2026, from of a pool of more than $2.5M in unrestricted funding. By pledging to #HalfMyDAF and supporting Cook Inletkeeper, you’re helping us defend Cook Inlet | Tikahtnu from an exponential increase in mounting threats to the watershed. Our journey began in 1995 in the wake of Exxon Valdez and still today, we still see the devastation one spill can cause. Our work is deeply rooted in ensuring a spill of that scale never puts our waters at risk again and future generations inherit a healthy environment.
Our core identity has always been about advocating for the public interest in maintaining clean water, lands, and air for all. Recommend a grant from your donor-advised fund to Cook Inletkeeper.

Step 2: Take the #HalfMyDAF Pledge
