Inletkeeper’s Backyard Salmonscapes project is a community-driven initiative focused on protecting and conserving salmon habitat across the Central Peninsula. A key feature of the project is its interactive, place-based approach. Backyard Salmonscapes invites participants to directly explore and understand the landscapes and waterways that sustain salmon populations in our own backyards.

We’ve Come

A Long Way…

…To Get Here

After successfully implementing three local solutions (Community Compost, Solarize the Kenai and Project Re-Tree) volunteers settled on a fourth solution: Backyard Salmonscapes. Focused on protecting and conserving salmon habitat across the Central Peninsula, Backyard Salmonscapes invites participants to directly explore and understand the landscapes and waterways that sustain salmon populations. Building on prior success, Backyard Salmonscapes continues to expand its reach through a series of workshops, meetings, and field events, in partnership with the Kachemak Heritage Land Trust and the Kenai Watershed Forum. These include salmon habitat mapping sessions, a “Fish Need Land Too” field trip, and volunteer opportunities tailored to the Central Peninsula community.

We need YOUR help implementing this fourth solution! Drop by our Community Action Studio at 35911 Kenai Spur Hwy, Unit 13 in Soldotna or reach out to David@inletkeeper.org to get involved today!
