Rosalie was born and raised on Tongva land (Los Angeles)—living down the hill from the largest urban oil field in the United States: the Inglewood Oil Field. The oil industry’s constant presence in her life has made it her through line, informing her choice to major in Urban and Environmental Policy, as well as the environmental policy and climate justice work she hopes to pursue with her degree. As a rising senior at Occidental College, Rosalie grounds her academic work in her experience volunteering and interning for various climate, labor, and environmental justice organizations. This summer, she is working with Inletkeeper as their Climate and Clean Water intern and could not be more excited. Rosalie is looking forward to expanding her knowledge while in Alaska, contributing to the Inletkeeper team, and, of course, spending a summer enjoying all the Cook Inlet | Tikahtnu watershed has to offer. While she was a circus artist for 12 years (living in Montreal to attend high school at the National Circus School), Rosalie now spends her free time hiking, listening to audiobooks, tossing a frisbee, and swimming in alpine lakes. And when prompted, she will still do a cartwheel or two.
