Backyard Salmonscapes: Salmon Habitat Mapping Field Day

Join Cook Inletkeeper and the Kenai Watershed Forum as a volunteer for local salmon habitat survey fieldwork, including activities such as minnow trapping. These efforts help improve and expand maps of anadromous fish habitat, providing valuable data to support salmon conservation across the Kenai Peninsula.

• Bring: Comfortable outdoor clothing, sturdy hiking footwear, rubber boots, or waders if available
• Carpool will return to Soldotna by approximately 5:00 PM

August 8th, Turnagain Pass – Wild salmon live in surprising places, including up at the top of Turnagain Pass! On Saturday August 8th, come join us for a unique field trip opportunity in Turnagain Pass to learn about local salmon habitat research and mapping. We’ll be going for a short hike to a newly-mapped roadside salmon stream to get hands-on experience with the tools and techniques that Backyard Salmonscapes volunteers like YOU can use to help support local management and conservation!
