After a sweet summer hiatus, Homer Drawdown is reemerging to kick off our fourth community climate solution selection process. Whether you’re returning or just learning about our climate action community for the first time, Homer Drawdown welcomes you to get involved! Our process will begin by reviewing the climate solutions presented in Project Drawdown: The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Reverse Global Warming. After review, we will begin to brainstorm which of these actions we can localize and implement in Homer over the next year or so and set up project proposal teams. This will be the first of three or four gatherings that will culminate in a vote on our next timely and impactful climate project to implement together, at home!
When: Thursday, October 2nd
Time: 5:30pm Food and Connection|6pm Meeting Begins
Where: Kachemak Bay Campus Room 201/202
Homer Drawdown is a grassroots community committed to implementing practical local solutions that address climate change by reducing carbon emissions or supporting carbon sinks while also meeting other community needs. Launched in 2020 this volunteer led group has piloted peatland restoration, non-motorized transportation initiatives, and climate-smart homes programs whose effects continue to ripple throughout the community.
If you’ve ever wondered how you can make a difference in the face of the climate crisis, this is your invitation. Come learn, share your ideas, and be part of selecting Homer’s next climate solution.
