Homer Drawdown: Climate Smart Homer Homes June Meeting
When: Tuesday June 11th – 5:30pm Food | 6pm Meeting Begins
Where: Kachemak Bay Campus Room 201/202
What: Homer Drawdown’s June Meeting, where we will share what we’ve learned about the how and when the federal rebate money will become available and collectively continue our work to spur a wave of home energy improvements in Homer.
During our previous meeting, which fell on a sun-shiny Tuesday in May, a smaller group of 12 of us enjoyed a more intimate conversation around a table. This discussion lead to three important conclusions:
Although the timeline of the roll of the energy rebate program is proving slower than expected, we recognize that making sure people know how take advantage of this program is one of the most impactful things we can do to spur local home energy efficiency improvements. As such, we, the Drawdown community will stay focused on this project through the rebates becoming available even if this pushes our project beyond our year marker.
In fall or early winter, our working groups should come together to host a Homer Home Energy Fair. This would be a one stop shop to learn about the different rebate opportunities, connect with energy auditors, get answers about heat pumps and solar and connect with installers and take home a door snake or smart thermostat.
With the understanding that they will likely be smaller, we will still continue our second Tuesday of the month planning meetings during the summer months to keep up our momentum. Mark your calendars for June 11, July 9, and August 13.
