Jamie Currie

(he/him)

Jamie (he/him) is excited to serve as Inletkeeper’s new Communications Director. Jamie was raised in Maine, on the ancestral lands of the Wabanaki People, including the Penobscot, Passamaquoddy, Maliseet, Abenaki, and Mi’kmaq Nations. A lifelong outdoorsperson and storyteller, he found his calling in science communication early on. Before joining Cook Inletkeeper, Jamie worked with the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science and served as a Sea Grant Fellow and Communications Specialist with NOAA Fisheries Alaska. He holds a master’s degree in marine biology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. At Inletkeeper, Jamie is excited to work for a community-based organization that weaves together advocacy, outreach, science, and education to achieve its mission of protecting Tikahtnu. He is eager to listen and learn as a member of the Homer community.

In his free time, Jamie spends as much time outside as possible – running, hiking, beachcombing, and photographing wildlife. A passionate SCUBA diver, he’s also a writer and dedicated wildlife observer, often content to spend hours watching marmots or Arctic ground squirrels, just because.
